With a background in sociology, Carmela Scibetta is a researcher at UPC KU (Universitair Psychiatrisch Centrum Katholieke Universiteit) Leuven within the Department of Public Health Psychiatry, where her work focuses on the implementation of the High and Intensive Care (HIC) model in Belgium. In parallel, she holds a position as project manager in a psychiatric hospital in Brussels, where she oversees and coordinates a range of clinical projects. She has a particular interest in the deinstitutionalisation of mental health care, which is her main area of focus, and she further develops her expertise in this field from a public policy perspective.
