Lisette van der Meer

Member of the board

Dr. Lisette van der Meer is a neuropsychologist who obtained her PhD in cognitive neuropsychiatry. She is Associate Professor at the University of Groningen and Principal Investigator at Lentis Mental Health Care, where she leads the research Group Rehabilitation and Innovation in Psychiatry (GRIP).

Her work focuses on recovery-oriented care for people living with severe mental health conditions, particularly individuals who depend on long-term and supported housing services but aim to regain autonomy and participation in the community. She studies how cognitive functioning, identity development, and daily functioning influence recovery, and how these processes can be supported in practice.

Within this context she is closely involved in the development and research of the Active Recovery Triad (ART) model, which aims to strengthen collaboration between service users, professionals and significant others, and to support movement from institutional and residential care toward greater independence and — where possible — community-based support.

A central characteristic of her work is the integration of research and practice: innovations are co-created with service users and professionals and implemented directly in clinical settings. More information about ongoing projects and publications can be found on the GRIP website (www.GRIPresearch.com).
